Why I applied

I applied to the She Drew That mentoring programme to improve my character animation skills, connect with like-minded women, and ultimately find a sustainable process for creating personal projects. I've had a list of ideas for projects for a while now and I feel that the structure provided by this mentorship was exactly what I needed to realise I can make them happen.

Project Outline

Through the mentorship, I have produced a 20-second animation in the style of a TV channel ident. I'm a big fan of MTV, E4, and Adult Swim idents as they're often unexpected bursts of energy and colour. Focusing on character animation within this context gave me the freedom to play with shape and perspective, making the whole process a lot of fun.

"She Drew That has helped me become more confident in my animation skills. With my mentor Dani Negrin's insights and feedback, I have become more aware of character emotions and the rationale behind every movement. The programme felt so supportive, as every conversation was open and relaxed, meaning I left each meeting feeling motivated and excited about my work. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend taking part in this, and I am grateful to be part of such a wonderful community."
